During an appearance on Second Lady Usha Vance's podcast, "Storytime with the Second Lady," former President Donald Trump deviated from reading the children's book "President's Play" to comment on several of his predecessors.
Trump's remarks touched on different presidents, offering his personal assessments. Regarding John F. Kennedy, Trump noted his appearance, stating, "He was handsome. He was the second-most good-looking president, they say." He also commented on Barack Obama's athleticism, saying, "Obama is a basketball player. I don’t know if he’s a good basketball player, I tend to doubt it." Trump added that Obama's favorite sport is golf but suggested he would not be competing in the Masters.
On William Howard Taft, Trump made a comment about his weight, stating, "He was our heaviest president, and I have to be careful, because I don’t want to supersede his record, and a thing like that would be possible if I allowed it to happen."
The podcast appearance was promoted by the Second Lady's office, highlighting the reading of a book that explores the "favorite pastimes" of various presidents, both past and present. The event took place in anticipation of the country's 250th birthday.
