CNN’s Kaitlan Collins reported on Thursday that President Donald Trump’s decision to cancel rallies in Kansas and Iowa was an “unusual” move for him. However, less than a day later, a source familiar with the plans informed HuffPost that the events were back on.

Collins noted on CNN that Trump typically highlights his extensive travel and rally schedule. "It’s pretty unusual, Anderson, because the president likes to tout how much he’s been on the road, and there’s no denying he’s held a bunch of rallies this month," she stated.

Her comments came as Congress was on the line, an issue that could impact the "White House agenda and deeply impact what the last two years of his presidency looked like."

Trump had reportedly lashed out at a Reuters reporter on Thursday, calling them “sick” and stating he would not go to Kansas because incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall was “doing very well.” The Republican National Committee had argued the cancellation was to facilitate tele-rallies that could reach more voters.

At the time of Collins’ report, some Republican officials were reportedly expressing “gratitude that the president is canceling these two rallies in Kansas and Iowa, respectively.” Collins also commented on Trump’s interaction with the reporter, noting that he snapped at them for asking a “perfectly straightforward question” about his health, given his travel schedule and age.

However, by Friday, Trump’s decision was reversed. Collins later announced on social media that the rallies had been rearranged to accommodate tele-rallies, and Trump would proceed with appearances in both states on Sunday.
