President Donald Trump recently reshared a post on Truth Social that depicted what it described as a "rare moment of public intimacy" with First Lady Melania Trump during a White House event. The post, originally shared by a user named @DorothyStangle, highlighted the couple sharing a kiss after signing an executive order.
The executive order established a women's health task force and a women's health division within the National Institutes of Health. According to the shared post, Trump thanked his wife, assisted her to her seat, and then they "shared a kiss while shaking hands."
However, the version reshared by Trump omitted a previous interaction where Melania Trump turned her head away as he moved in for a kiss, with his lips landing near her forehead. This moment was previously noted as awkward in reporting by HuffPost.
The reshared post also stated that after the kiss, Trump patted the first lady's hand and remarked, "Great job." He then suggested she sign the executive order before commenting to others, "I don’t know if her signature means anything."
Body language experts have previously interpreted Melania Trump's gesture during the attempted kiss as "absolute nonverbal avoidance and rejection."
