Former President Donald Trump reported generating over $2.2 billion in revenue during his first year back in office, according to federally mandated financial disclosures released Tuesday. This figure represents a 250 percent increase in revenue from the previous year, when he reported at least $622 million.
Trump's disclosures mark a departure from modern presidential financial reporting, as no other modern U.S. president has reported business revenues on this scale. For comparison, Barack Obama generated millions primarily through book sales during his time in office.
When questioned about his substantial wealth and returns, Trump stated his funds are managed through a "blind account," although he has not placed his assets in a blind trust, a practice followed by every president since the 1970s who held individual stocks. This means Trump can see his holdings, but he cannot direct the trading activities himself. He told reporters he "never speak[s] to any of the people that run the money" and that they operate within "big institutions."
Trump attributed his financial gains to a rising stock market, claiming, "Everybody's profiting." However, major stock market indices saw growth between 13 and 20 percent in 2025, significantly less than the 250 percent increase he experienced.
Revenue Streams
The former president's revenue streams encompass a variety of sectors, including cryptocurrency, real estate, and litigation settlements.
Cryptocurrency Ventures
Cryptocurrency proved to be Trump's most lucrative venture, accounting for approximately $1.4 billion of the reported revenue. His crypto business, World Liberty Financial (WLF), in which family members also hold stakes, generated $799 million in revenue in 2025, a substantial increase from $57 million in 2024. This represents a 425 percent year-over-year growth for WLF.
Despite Trump's significant gains, the broader cryptocurrency market has experienced a decline, with its total market cap falling from a record $4.3 trillion in October 2025 to around $2.1 trillion. Approximately 70 million Americans invest in cryptocurrency, according to Security.org.
Another significant crypto revenue source was Trump's meme coin, $TRUMP, which brought in $636 million in 2025. The coin's price saw a temporary surge after its release before plummeting, currently priced around $1.68 per coin, an 80 percent decrease from its value a year ago. An investment firm linked to the United Arab Emirates government purchased 49 percent of WLF shortly before Trump's inauguration in 2025.
Real Estate and Settlements
Trump's real estate holdings also contributed significantly to his revenue. His Florida property and members-only club, Mar-a-Lago, generated $77 million in revenue last year, up from $50 million in 2024. His Doral golf course, located near Miami, earned $122 million in 2025, compared to $110 million the previous year.
Additionally, Trump received tens of millions of dollars through settlements with media companies. ABC News paid $16 million, which included $15 million for his forthcoming presidential library and $1 million for legal fees, following a defamation claim. Meta paid $25 million related to his ban from Facebook after the January 6 Capitol riot, with $22 million allocated to the library and $3 million for legal fees. X paid $10 million towards the library, and Paramount, the owner of CBS News, paid $16 million, largely for the library and legal fees, after Trump accused the outlet of editing broadcasts to portray him negatively.
White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly stated, "Neither the President nor his family has ever engaged — or will ever engage — in conflicts of interest," and added, "President Trump proudly made the United States the crypto capital of the world."
