Donald Trump announced Friday that he has fired White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, replacing her with senior advisor Stephen Miller. The announcement was made via Trump's social media platform, Truth Social.
"I am pleased to announce that Mr. Stephen Miller, the current Deputy Chief of Staff of the Trump Administration, and one of my most trusted advisors, will become the Chief of Staff starting Monday, November 9, 2026," Trump wrote. He added, "Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation. I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!"
The personnel change occurred days after Democrats achieved significant victories in the midterm elections, a result that could impact Republican control of Congress for an extended period.
Wiles, who served as the first female White House Chief of Staff under Trump, stated on X, "Today is my last day as White House Chief of Staff. Serving President Trump in the White House has been the honor of a lifetime." She expressed pride in the administration's accomplishments, including border security, tax cuts, economic strengthening, and the "America First" policy.
A senior White House official informed the Daily Mail that Wiles submitted her resignation on Thursday. Wiles was the longest-serving Chief of Staff for Trump.
