Donald Trump remains the most admired Republican president among GOP voters, a distinction that continues to underscore his influence within the party as the November midterm elections draw nearer. CNN’s chief data analyst Harry Enten presented data indicating that Trump’s name recognition and endorsement power are key factors in Republican primary contests.

Enten cited a recent CNN poll showing that 53% of Republicans identify Trump as the Republican president they admire most. This figure significantly surpasses those who selected former presidents Ronald Reagan at 18% and Abraham Lincoln at 8%.

This sustained popularity was evident in recent primary races, such as the one in South Carolina where Darline Graham secured the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate. Enten attributed Graham's victory directly to Trump’s endorsement.

Enten’s analysis suggests that despite any potential shifts in approval ratings, Trump continues to be a central figure for the Republican electorate. The data offers a measure of encouragement for Republicans concerned about potential losses in the upcoming general election, where Graham will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in South Carolina. The influence of Trump's endorsements has also been noted in other races, including that of Ken Paxton in Texas, a candidate who received Trump's backing in May.
