Trump Reiterates Claims He Was Denied Nobel Peace Prize

Former President Donald Trump renewed his criticism of the Norwegian Nobel Committee on Saturday, asserting that his administration's foreign policy actions should have earned him the Nobel Peace Prize.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed he had "settled 8 Wars" and was close to "settling, or win[ning], two more." He cited actions such as the operation to capture Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro, efforts to secure the return of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, and U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as accomplishments that merited the award. Maduro currently faces narco-terrorism charges in New York.

Trump stated, "I won a war in Venezuela, and captured the violent dictator who so viciously ran that country, and stopped the number one state sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran, from obtaining a Nuclear Weapon — AND MUCH MORE! Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Noble Peace Prize. WOW!"

The former president also criticized the committee's decision to award this year's prize to South African jurist Navi Pillay. Trump referred to the award given to Pillay as a "stain" on Norway and said it had "forever discredited" the prize. He described Pillay as a "mystery person" and a "liberal person who works at the United Nations."

Pillay, a former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and a judge on the UN's International Criminal Court, was recognized for her work on international justice. She was involved in a UN report that found Israel committed actions described as "genocide" in Gaza.

Following the announcement of sanctions against the International Criminal Court by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who called it a "rogue court," Trump commented on the prize. He stated that the Nobel Peace Prize has been "forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization."
