Trump Rallies in Kansas and Iowa Back On After Previous Cancellation
The president is scheduled to hold in-person campaign events in Kansas and Iowa on Sunday after they were initially removed from his pre-midterm schedule.
President Donald Trump will hold campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa this coming weekend, reversing an earlier decision to cancel the events. These rallies are back on the schedule as Trump seeks to bolster Republican control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
A source familiar with the planning confirmed Friday that the rallies were rescheduled "for scheduling purposes to accommodate dozens of additional tele-rallies that were recently added to the President’s schedule." Trump is still slated to participate in 19 tele-rallies on Saturday, with the in-person events in Kansas and Iowa set for Sunday.
The initial cancellation of the Kansas and Iowa rallies had sparked speculation about the fate of Republican Senate candidates in those states, where Democratic candidates were reportedly running strong races against incumbent Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) and Rep. Ashley Hinson (R-Iowa).
Trump has maintained a demanding schedule of campaign events in the lead-up to the Nov. 3 midterm elections, holding nearly daily rallies throughout October.
