Trump Proposes Renaming Atlantic or Pacific Ocean 'Trump Ocean'
President Trump floated the idea of rechristening one of the world's major oceans during a rally in Tennessee, drawing enthusiastic cheers from supporters.
President Donald Trump has suggested renaming either the Atlantic or Pacific Ocean as 'Trump Ocean' or 'Ocean of the Americas,' a proposal met with loud approval from attendees at a rally in Clarksville, Tennessee, on Saturday.
Trump stated his desire to rename another significant geographical landmark before the end of his presidency. He has previously overseen the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico to the 'Gulf of America' for federal purposes and rechristened Lake Ontario as 'Lake America' in August. "So we need a river and we need an ocean, so I was thinking of either the Atlantic or the Pacific," Trump told the crowd. "We'll call it Trump Ocean or Ocean of the Americas."
The president also discussed the potential for renaming a river, but indicated that some waterways would remain untouched. He specifically mentioned that he would not change the name of the Hudson River, acknowledging its historical significance, nor the Mississippi River.
During the rally, Trump recalled his previous geographical rebrandings. "So we've got the Gulf. We've got a beautiful lake. Now somebody you need a river," he said, adding, "I don't want to change the name of the Hudson River. That's too much. Henry Hudson did a good job setting up that sucker a long time ago."
The suggestions of renaming major oceans and rivers were met with cheers from the rally participants. Trump expressed his ambition to see these transformations completed before his term concludes.
