Trump Proposes Arch Near Lincoln Memorial to Serve as 'Military Complex'

President Donald Trump has proposed transforming a planned arch near the Lincoln Memorial into a "top grade military complex" capable of hosting drones, snipers, and storing ammunition. Trump announced the concept Sunday via social media, stating the military had made a "strong request" to convert the 250-foot-tall memorial arch into a facility that could rapidly deploy drones and accommodate snipers on its roof and plaza areas.

The arch, intended for a site adjacent to the Memorial Bridge, is one of several projects Trump has pursued to leave a lasting mark on Washington D.C. This initiative follows his description of a new White House ballroom as a "military complex" necessary for national security. Other projects include renaming and renovating the Kennedy Center, refurbishing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, and rebuilding a golf course in East Potomac Park, which could limit public access to running and biking paths.
