Trump Praises Laura Loomer as 'Great Republican Strategist,' Drawing Criticism

Former President Donald Trump praised Laura Loomer, a far-right conspiracy theorist and self-proclaimed Islamophobe, as a "great Republican strategist" during a rally in Mobile, Alabama.

"A great Republican strategist, a great person, a killer when she’s angry at you," Trump said of Loomer. "It’s a very terrible situation. Laura Loomer. Thank you, Laura. She’s great."

The endorsement came after Loomer reportedly expressed frustration with the president for meeting with New York City council member Zohran Mamdani. Loomer had publicly criticized Mamdani and questioned why her concerns were not being prioritized.

Loomer, known for her controversial statements and online attacks, including racist remarks directed at Black women and Muslims, was seen boarding Air Force One, an act that drew sharp criticism from various figures.

Critics, including former Trump ally Marjorie Taylor Greene, voiced strong disapproval of Trump's praise and Loomer's access to the presidential aircraft. Greene took to X, formerly Twitter, to express her dismay, stating, "And look at the absolute SHIT SHOW his presidency has become with all time lowest approval ratings and the GOP on the verge of a midterm blood bath."

Journalist Mehdi Hasan also criticized the situation on X, writing, "She was banned from Uber, now she flys on Airforce One. Should be one of the biggest scandals in America. A woman who has hurled vicious racist abuse at Black women and all Muslims. Where is the media? Where is the outrage at Trump? Why the normalization of far right extremists?"

Other users on X echoed these sentiments, questioning Trump's judgment and the implications of his association with Loomer, with one user stating, "The fact that this nut has access to the president of the US tells you all you need to know about this country."
