Former President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated video on his Truth Social account Sunday evening that depicted Iran's Kharg Island being destroyed. The post came hours after U.S. forces conducted airstrikes targeting Iranian rocket launchers, marking the first such strikes in a month. Trump, 80, did not explicitly state that the 10-second clip was AI-generated, and there was no evidence to suggest that Kharg Island itself had been attacked.

Iranian officials refuted the implication of the video. Hamid Bovard, chief executive of the National Iranian Oil Co., told the semi-official outlet Nournews that conditions on Kharg Island were calm and that operations had not ceased. He stated that workers were engaged in repairs from previous damage.

Earlier on Sunday, U.S. Central Command reported that its forces had struck rocket launchers on Iran's Larak Island, located approximately 400 miles east of Kharg. In response, Iran launched missiles targeting U.S. sites in Jordan, which were intercepted. The United Arab Emirates Defense Ministry also announced that its military had engaged an Iranian drone detected over its territorial waters, reporting no damage. The ministry later denied a claim by the Iranian army that the Al Minhad Air Base in Dubai had been targeted.
