Trump Plans Third Gala for Top Meme Coin Investors
Critics decry the exclusive event, held at a Trump property, as a potential conflict of interest.
President Donald Trump is scheduled to host a third exclusive dinner for the top investors of his namesake meme coin in November, a gathering that critics argue exemplifies his attempts to profit from his position.
The event, announced on the $TRUMP coin website, will take place on November 22 at the Trump National Golf Club in Northern Virginia. It will include an "exclusive" dinner for 185 of the coin's top investors, with the top 29 receiving an invitation to a VIP reception with Trump.
Critics have labeled these events as "pay-for-play" schemes. Financial disclosures indicate that Trump generated approximately $635 million from these "Celebration Coins" in 2025, a significant portion of the $1.4 billion he earned from his overall cryptocurrency portfolio.
Trump launched his meme coin, a digital currency often based on internet trends, in January 2025, shortly before his inauguration. Initially, the coin's value surged to over $44 before experiencing a sharp decline. Currently, the coin is valued at approximately $2, meaning an investment of $10,000 at its peak would be worth less than $700 today.
Both Trump and the White House have consistently denied that his private business dealings constitute a conflict of interest.
