President Donald Trump has offered the job of White House press secretary to UFC President Dana White, according to a social media post by Trump.
White confirmed the offer and stated that he plans to meet with Trump on Monday in Washington. Trump announced the offer on Saturday, calling White a "violent Fighter and Warrior" and his "friend."
In his post, Trump wrote, "We need these people to defend us against the Lunatic Left. Dana will be a Press Secretary like none other. Dana, please take the job!"
White, who was in London for a boxing event, told reporters that he would fly to Washington to meet with Trump. When asked about balancing the potential new role with his current responsibilities in the fighting world, White responded, "Yeah, I got a lot of jobs already."
The UFC president also shared an image of Trump's post on Instagram with the caption "On to the next chapter," accompanied by a picture of himself behind the White House press briefing room podium.
Trump's announcement comes as his administration is undergoing significant changes. This offer also follows a period of transition for the White House press secretary role, which has been vacant since Karoline Leavitt departed at the end of August. A previous interim press secretary, Katie Zacharia, left the position after only five days in the role.
Trump and White have a close relationship, with Trump attending multiple UFC events and even bringing White and the sport to the White House's South Lawn in June for events celebrating American independence and the president's 80th birthday. White has also spoken at multiple Republican National Conventions.
