Trump Meets Ravens Players, Mentions Lamar Jackson's Mother at Baltimore Event
Former President Donald Trump met with several Baltimore Ravens players in Maryland while announcing a significant military investment, and remarked on his acquaintance with the mother of quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Donald Trump was greeted by a number of Baltimore Ravens players during a visit to Maryland, where he announced plans for a new submarine facility. Cornerback Marlon Humphrey, kicker Tyler Loop, punter Ryan Eckley, and long snapper Nick Moore met the former president at the event held at Sparrows Point Shipyard.
Trump's appearance coincided with the lead-up to the midterm elections. He highlighted a $3.7 billion investment by the military technology company Anduril, which intends to build components for nuclear-powered submarines at the shipyard.
Images from the event showed the NFL players, dressed in suits, shaking hands with Trump. During his speech, Trump acknowledged the players, commenting on their team's success.
"These guys are making a lot of money - they're doing very well," Trump stated. "I think they're 3-1 or something like that. They're doing good!" He then asked the four Ravens players present to stand, referring to them as "big stars" and "good looking guys."
The former president mentioned that he had nearly mistaken Nick Moore for a coach before learning Moore's role as the long snapper. "Nowadays, those long snappers, they're very valuable. It's an amazing job you do," Trump said of Moore, noting his "unblemished record" and wishing him well despite some visible gray hair.
Trump then shifted focus to Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. "You have a great team this year and say hello to your quarterback," he continued. "He's a little bit injured but tell him I know his mother. I met his mother a few times in Palm Beach and she's a fantastic, beautiful woman. But give him my regards, he is some player."
Reports earlier in the week indicated that Jackson could miss multiple games due to an ankle injury sustained during the Ravens' recent win against the Tennessee Titans.
