Trump May Attend Highly Anticipated Ole Miss-LSU Football Game

Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter has suggested that former President Donald Trump could attend Saturday's highly anticipated college football game between Ole Miss and LSU in Oxford, Mississippi.

The game marks the return of former Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin to Oxford for the first time since his departure for LSU last season. The matchup is considered the most anticipated game of the year, with expectations of a fervent atmosphere.

Carter acknowledged hearing rumors, originating from individuals close to the former president, that Trump might attend. While the university has not received official confirmation and is not planning extensive security measures, Carter stated they are "prepared for anything."

"We have not heard anything from President Trump's camp officially," Carter said in a radio interview with SuperTalk Mississippi. "I've kind of heard the rumors as well. There's some Ole Miss folks that are close to the president, and they've mentioned that that could potentially happen. But as of today, we have not heard anything officially from his team, so we'll continue to go with that for now."

He added that logistical considerations, including security and airspace, would be significant if Trump were to attend. "Obviously that would be a big undertaking from a standpoint of logistics and getting him and all of his entourage in and out (of Oxford) with airspace and security, those types of things. So I would assume by this point we'd know something, but we'll be prepared for anything as this weekend approaches."

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry had previously joked to ESPN that the National Guard might be needed to protect Kiffin. Carter responded by stating that Ole Miss is focused on hosting a football game and ensuring security, downplaying the rhetoric from Louisiana.

Kiffin himself has attempted to temper the focus on his return, emphasizing the importance of player preparation and performance over the personal narrative of his homecoming. "I told the players today, man, you don't have anything to worry about as far as attention on you all this week. There's just gonna be so much attention, hatred, everything on me. I said, you just get to go play," Kiffin said. "It won't be about all the other stuff and all the noise and everything. It'll be about how well did we practice, how well did we prepare, so how well did we play on game day."

The game is a top-10 ranked matchup, with both teams having strong starts to their seasons under their respective coaches. Lane Kiffin is currently 2-0 at LSU.
