Former top aide to the Prime Minister Morgan McSweeney told the BBC that Donald Trump was "much funnier than I expected him to be" during his first phone call with Keir Starmer.

McSweeney recounted a joke Trump made about foxes consuming birds that were killed by wind turbines, which he referred to as his "preferred term for wind turbines." According to McSweeney, Trump suggested that the foxes became lazy and fat from eating so many birds, to the point where their species became unrecognizable.

When asked if Trump was intentionally trying to be humorous, McSweeney affirmed, "Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Definitely."

Officials present in the room during the call "barely able to contain themselves" at the joke, McSweeney added.
