Trump Links Midterms to 'Western Civilization' Amid French Riots
Former President Donald Trump urged voters to examine the unrest in France as a warning of what could happen in the United States if Democrats win the upcoming midterm elections.
Former President Donald Trump drew a parallel between the ongoing midterm elections and the defense of "Western civilization" on Monday, citing recent violent unrest in France.
Speaking at a rally in Wichita, Kansas, Trump implored voters to "look at France" as an example of "what's at stake" in the upcoming elections. He characterized France as "a once great nation that is being conquered, looted and burned to the ground by migrants, jihadists and communists who hate Christianity."
"And they hate, frankly, the Western civilization itself," Trump added, referring to the groups he believes are responsible for the turmoil.
The protests in France, which began last month over school conditions, escalated over the weekend with widespread violence and looting. Authorities reported approximately 2,400 arrests nationwide. An estimated 3,000 businesses have been damaged or ransacked across several cities, including Paris. In the town of Limonge, protesters set fire to the historic municipal town hall on Saturday, causing the collapse of the 143-year-old building's roof and clock tower.
Trump asserted that "radical Democrats" desire similar outcomes in America. "When you see burning steeples and raging fires in France, just remember, that is what the radical Democrats want to do to America," he stated. "They expect to do it. They're not going to come close."
He further contended that the "Democrat agenda is a plan to extinguish Western civilization," citing policies such as open borders, the shutdown of power plants, the release of criminals, and the promotion of gender transition for children. Trump also claimed Democrats intend to confiscate money and display the Palestinian flag while defiling the American flag.
Trump attributed the situation in France to "third-world migrants" and "globalist left-wing politicians," whom he accused of surrendering the country to vandals. He described the protesters as migrants who "refuse to assimilate" and aim to exploit the welfare state funded by French citizens.
Trump's remarks came during a campaign stop in Kansas supporting incumbent Senator Roger Marshall and gubernatorial candidate Ty Masterson. He also offered condolences for victims of a fatal car crash in Wichita that resulted in two deaths, including a child, and injured ten others. The driver involved in the crash has since been released without charges, and Trump pledged support to help authorities investigate the incident.
