President Donald Trump drew a connection between the September 11, 2001, attacks and the ongoing conflict with Iran during a speech at the Pentagon. The remarks came on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
"Today we renew the sacred oath that we first swore in their names a quarter of a century ago, we will never, ever forget. That's why we fight today," Trump stated at the Pentagon. He emphasized the need for strength and intelligence in national security, adding, "On days like 9/11, we learn what a country is truly made of. We're learning right now what we're made of, and we have to be strong and we have to be smart."
The president also asserted the necessity of decisive action, saying, "We don't have a choice. It can only be victory. We fight hard. We fight to win."
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had also previously linked the current conflict with Iran to the 9/11 attacks.
