Trump-Linked Super PAC Cuts Funding for Two House Republicans Amid Election Concerns
MAGA Inc. and Congressional Leadership Fund are reallocating resources from districts represented by Reps. Tom Kean and Marianette Miller-Meeks due to recent polling data.
MAGA Inc., a prominent super PAC affiliated with former President Donald Trump, has ceased planned spending in the congressional districts of Rep. Tom Kean, R-N.J., and Rep. Marianette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, with Election Day less than a month away. A source familiar with these decisions confirmed to Fox News Digital that the reallocation of funds is a response to recent polling data indicating diminished re-election prospects for both incumbents.
The Congressional Leadership Fund (CLF), a super PAC aligned with House GOP leadership, is also withdrawing its financial support from Kean's and Miller-Meeks' districts, intending to reroute the funds to other competitive House races nationwide. Both groups will direct their investments to different contests across the country, signaling a strategic shift as Republicans face challenges in maintaining their House majority.
Recent projections, including the Fox News Power Rankings, suggest Democrats have an advantage in securing enough seats for a majority, with 219 seats projected for Democrats compared to 198 for Republicans, leaving 19 seats undecided.
Rep. Kean represents New Jersey's 7th Congressional District, a region characterized by wealthy suburbs and exurbs of New York City. His campaign stated that the race is fully funded for its final stretch, noting that the campaign and House Republicans' campaign arm have significant broadcast reservations, while his Democratic opponent, Rebecca Bennett, has no soft dollar reservations supporting her.
Kean, who secured his seat in 2022 by defeating former Rep. Tom Malinowski, D-N.J., by fewer than 10,000 votes, saw a wider margin in his 2024 re-election bid, winning by just over 5%.
Rep. Miller-Meeks is campaigning for her fourth term against Democrat Christina Bohannan, having previously defeated her by approximately 20,000 votes in 2022 and by 800 votes in 2024. Her initial victory in 2020 was by a mere six votes, earning her the nickname "six-pack" among her Republican colleagues. Miller-Meeks represents Iowa's 1st Congressional District, which includes Davenport and Iowa City.
The decision by CLF to pull funding is part of a broader strategy to shift resources to districts where Republicans believe they have a stronger chance of winning. The New York Times initially reported that top Republican super PACs, including those aligned with Trump and House leadership, were withdrawing support from Kean and Miller-Meeks due to concerns about their polling numbers. CLF is reportedly also reallocating funds from Michigan's 8th Congressional District and Ohio's 1st Congressional District.
