Trump Likens Aide Natalie Harp to 'Price Is Right' Model at Nebraska Rally
The former president praised his aide, Natalie Harp, during a rally where he signed an executive order on diesel prices.
Donald Trump brought his aide Natalie Harp on stage at a rally in Grand Island, Nebraska, on Monday night, comparing her to a model from the game show "The Price Is Right." Trump, 80, called Harp, 35, to the stage during his speech to present an executive order concerning diesel prices.
After Harp handed him the document, which Trump signed and then tossed into the audience, he commented on her presentation. "She reminds me of The Price Is Right," Trump said. "This perfect person comes up, hands it, walks off." He then mused, "We should go on television with this show, right?"
The executive order permits tax-free purchases of red-dyed diesel, a fuel commonly used in agricultural and construction settings. This occurred as the national average price for diesel stood at $6.32 per gallon, weeks before the midterm elections.
Harp, who is frequently by Trump's side, has been referred to as the "human printer" for her role in providing him with news articles and social media posts. In July, she was among three aides who reportedly switched planes with Trump amidst an Iranian threat during the NATO summit in Turkey, while other senior officials remained on the larger aircraft.
Her close proximity and access to Trump have drawn attention. In August, Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff suggested Trump preferred traveling with Harp over fulfilling his presidential duties. Reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan noted that Harp's devotion had garnered the attention of the Secret Service and reportedly surprised chief of staff Susie Wiles. Trump himself was quoted as telling advisers that Harp was the only one on his team who truly cared about him, stating, "All of you will go off and make money. She'll never leave me."
At one point in 2023, Melania Trump reportedly encountered Harp late at night within Trump's private quarters at Mar-a-Lago, an area generally restricted to family members.
Despite controversies surrounding her access, White House spokesman Davis Ingle has described Harp as "one of the most loyal and hardest working aides on President Trump's team." Marc Beckman, a senior adviser to Melania Trump, defended Harp earlier in the summer, accusing the "liberal media" of targeting her.
