Trump Lashes Out at Bill Maher in Lengthy Truth Social Rant
Former President Donald Trump has publicly criticized comedian Bill Maher, calling him a 'complete and total loser' and a 'dumb sleazebag' following a recent dinner and Maher's interview with former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Former President Donald Trump unleashed a sweeping critique of comedian Bill Maher on Truth Social, a lengthy post where he labeled Maher a "complete and total loser" and a "dumb sleazebag." The criticism followed a recent dinner the two men shared at the White House, and an appearance by former Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Maher's HBO show.
In a Sunday night post, Trump asserted that Maher's show has low ratings and claimed the comedian "begged" him to appear on it. Trump stated that while he had met with Maher after becoming president, he never agreed to be a guest on the show. He described watching Maher's program as infrequent, but when he did, he found it to be "dishonest, about me at least."
Trump also challenged Maher's on-air claims about his polling numbers and support within the Republican Party. "Using Fake Polls, he also said I had my Lowest Ratings so far, ‘and even the Republican Party doesn’t like him,’ but that’s not true," Trump wrote. He cited a recent CNN poll indicating his support within the Republican Party was at "98 and 99%, an All Time Record High."
Addressing the recent White House dinner, which was also attended by Kid Rock and Stephen A. Smith, Trump characterized it as "a good meeting" that lasted less than two hours. He suggested Maher was friendly initially but later reverted to his "former self, and his old ways." Trump added that Maher "is not a nice guy, and what he spouts isn’t what he believes. He has to cater to his base, which is mostly composed of Losers, and people who don’t like working."
Trump recalled Maher's first visit to the White House in April of the previous year, stating that Maher "invited himself" and appeared nervous. "He asked for a drink. He was very insecure, and he had a seriously bruised eye and nose area, as though somebody had just beaten him up — But it wasn’t me!" Trump claimed.
Maher, in response to criticism regarding his dinners with Trump, stated on his show, "Yeah I did it again b******. You know what? F*** you. I like these dinners." He also remarked that Trump was "far more sane than the last [president]" and "far more energetic."
During her appearance on Maher's show, Leavitt conveyed Trump's regards, stating, "The president sends his regards. I told him I was coming on the show and he said, 'Tell him he loved that dinner and he knows it.'" Maher responded, "I do like it."
Trump concluded his Truth Social post by telling Maher, "Don’t call anymore." He accused the comedian of being "a coward who is afraid to tell the truth about how well our Country is running because of your few 'fans,' and how badly the Dumocrats have done, almost destroying the U.S.A." He also threatened to have Republicans stop covering Maher's show, stating, "You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser! I never watched your show much, but I will never watch it again, because it is nothing more than FAKE NEWS."
