Former President Donald Trump has identified American states and cities with Democratic majorities as the primary threat to the United States, diverging from his typical focus on international adversaries.

During a Fox News interview on Tuesday, Trump criticized communities that have restricted or blocked the development of large data centers, facilities crucial for artificial intelligence and cloud platforms. He asserted that these "blue states and blue cities," run by Democrats, are "really the threat to the country" because they are "a disaster."

Trump has frequently attacked Democrats, at times labeling them "communists," and has made disparaging remarks about cities with Democratic leadership. He recently described such cities as "filthy dirty" and suggested their residents were "not clean."

In response to Trump's comments, California Governor Gavin Newsom posted on social media, reminding the former president that he was fundraising in a "blue state" that, along with other "blue cities," is currently supporting "his" government. Newsom shared a link to a news report about Trump's remarks.
