Trump Hopes Iran War Nears End, Threatens Tariffs Over Canada-EU Deal

President Donald Trump stated on Wednesday that he believes the war in Iran is nearing its conclusion, expressing optimism that a resolution could be reached.

"Well, hopefully we’re toward the end of the war," Trump told reporters. "They want to make a deal, and we’ll see how that works out."

His remarks come as the House of Representatives narrowly passed a war powers resolution aimed at halting military action in Iran without congressional approval. The resolution, which passed 220-204, would require the president to withdraw U.S. armed forces from hostilities against Iran unless Congress explicitly authorizes further action or an imminent attack is underway. This measure faces a likely veto from President Trump.

Some lawmakers, like Rep. Seth Moulton, D-Mass., who served in the Iraq War, have criticized the administration's handling of the conflict, questioning previous assertions about its duration. However, others, such as Republican Rep. Brian Mast, chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, maintain that Trump is committed to ending
