Trump Faces 'Stunning' Collapse in Support Among Young Voters, Poll Analysis Shows
CNN's Harry Enten highlights Fox News polling data indicating a significant drop in favorability among voters under 30, largely attributed to concerns about the economy and inflation.
Donald Trump has experienced a dramatic decline in support among voters under 30, according to an analysis of recent Fox News polling data by CNN's chief data analyst Harry Enten. Enten described the shift as "absolutely stunning," noting that Trump's net approval rating among this demographic has fallen from plus 3 percentage points in October 2024 to minus 50 percentage points currently.
"This is math we can all do," Enten stated, emphasizing a 53-point swing in the wrong direction for Trump among a group he had previously held positive favorability with. This significant erosion of support is primarily being driven by perceptions of Trump's handling of the economy and inflation.
During the 2024 presidential election campaign, voters under 30 reportedly favored Trump over his Democratic opponent by 2 percentage points on economic issues. However, Enten's analysis reveals that Trump's net approval rating on the economy among this same age group now stands at minus 64 percentage points.
The numbers related to inflation are particularly stark. Only 9% of younger voters approve of Trump's approach to inflation, while 91% disapprove. Enten drew a striking comparison, stating, "There are more Americans who think that we faked the moon landing than the percentage of young voters who actually approve of the job that Trump is doing on inflation." He concluded that these figures represent some of the worst polling data he has encountered for any president on any issue.
