During a two-day visit to Ireland, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his support for a united Ireland, describing it as a potentially "fantastic thing." He met with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin at Farmleigh House in Phoenix Park on Saturday.

Trump indicated that while the United Kingdom would have a say in the matter, he believed unification would be beneficial. "I think it would be a great thing, I mean, how can it be bad?" he stated.

Following his remarks on unification, the President was scheduled to spend the day observing the Irish Open golf tournament.

The visit marked Trump's continued engagement with Ireland, a country with which he has familial ties through his mother's heritage.
