Trump Enlists NFL Star Todd Gurley for Georgia Midterm Campaign Push

Donald Trump has brought former NFL star and Georgia Bulldogs icon Todd Gurley onto the campaign trail as he intensifies his efforts in the midterm elections. Gurley traveled aboard Air Force One with Trump for a campaign rally in Dalton, Georgia, on Friday, marking Trump's third visit to the state this year.

Gurley, a revered figure in Georgia, played for the Bulldogs from 2012 to 2014 before being selected 10th overall by the Los Angeles Rams in the 2015 NFL Draft. He later earned NFL Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2017 and concluded his career with the Atlanta Falcons in 2020.

This political alignment is not Gurley's first with Georgia football personalities this cycle; Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Stockton previously attended a Trump event in February. Gurley also follows in the footsteps of another prominent Georgia running back, Herschel Walker, who received Trump's endorsement during his unsuccessful 2022 Senate bid against incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock.

Trump's visit and his recruitment of Gurley underscore Georgia's continued importance as a closely contested political battleground heading into the midterm elections.
