Former President Donald Trump recounted an interaction with an artificial intelligence projection of Theodore Roosevelt during a visit to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota. The library, which opened over the weekend, features an AI projection of the 26th president.
Trump described the conversation during a speech, stating, “I even had a conversation with Theodore Roosevelt.” He reported asking the AI projection about Roosevelt's perspective on the Panama Canal and whether the former president considered it his greatest achievement.
Trump also posed a question to the AI about the transfer of the Panama Canal. "How do you feel about the fact that the Democrats gave the Panama Canal away to Panama for $1?" Trump asked. The former president, who has previously criticized the fees collected by Panama for the canal, has expressed the view that the canal was "given away."
The Panama Canal was officially transferred to Panamanian control in 1999, a process stemming from a treaty signed in 1977 by President Jimmy Carter and ratified by the Senate. Trump referred to Roosevelt as a "Teddy" Roosevelt as a "great he-man" but did not disclose the response provided by the AI projection.
