Trump Demands Ilhan Omar Resign, Attacks Democrats at Georgia Rally

Former President Donald Trump has demanded that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar resign from Congress, reviving allegations about her name and marriage. Trump made these remarks during a Republican campaign rally in Perry, Georgia, as he rallied alongside Senate challenger Mike Collins and gubernatorial candidate Rick Jackson.

Trump claimed that Omar had used a different name to be sworn into Congress and linked this to longstanding allegations that she married her brother. The Department of Justice referenced Omar by the name 'Ilhan Nur Said Elmi' in court filings related to the federal raid of her Washington, D.C. residence. Omar has rejected these claims, stating her real name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar.

"She comes from one of the worst countries, maybe the worst country in the world, and she's telling us how to run our country," Trump said, referencing Omar's birth country of Somalia. He further asserted that because she allegedly used a fake name to be sworn in, she must "immediately resign from Congress."

Trump also mocked Omar over an alleged response when asked if she had married her brother: "Not to my knowledge," he said. He contrasted this with his own hypothetical answer regarding marrying a sister. The president then jokingly suggested House Speaker James Michael Johnson be informed that the "Democrat Party has just conceded her seat."

Additionally, Trump criticized Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff, questioning his public image and stating, "The fake news, they say, 'Oh, he's so handsome.' I don't think so."

The rally took place as former President Barack Obama was also campaigning for Democrats in Michigan. Obama reportedly mocked Trump's White House renovations and criticized his administration's policies, including the Iran nuclear deal.

Trump mentioned Obama's presence in Michigan and claimed his own rally appeared to be more successful. He touted his decision to withdraw from the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, calling it "one of the worst deals ever made."
