President Trump announced Tuesday that the Strait of Hormuz has been de-mined and is now open for passage, stating that the 60-day window for negotiations with Iran has concluded without further talks being scheduled. Trump made the declaration on his social media platform, Truth Social.

"There are no talks or conversations going on, or scheduled, with the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Naval Blockade remains in full force and effect," Trump posted. He added, "The Hormuz Strait is open and operating. All water mines have been removed or detonated."

For months, Iran has reportedly engaged in sporadic attacks and mine-laying activities in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route through which a significant portion of the world's seaborne oil flows. The U.S. has been engaged in operations to counter these actions.

This announcement follows a reported threat by Trump directed at Oman, should its rulers assist Tehran in controlling the critical waterway. Earlier in the month, Trump indicated to Axios that negotiations with Iran were only partial, suggesting that economic pressure from an ongoing naval blockade would eventually impact the Iranian regime.
