Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday the United States will initiate what he described as “the most crushing economic operation ever taken against any country” targeting Iran and its allies, a move he characterized as “Economic D-Day."

"Therefore, today, I am announcing the MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY!" Trump stated in a social media post. "This will be Economic Warfare and Isolation on an unprecedented scale."

Trump asserted that Iran is "hanging by a thread" due to U.S. military actions that have severely impacted its navy, air force, and military infrastructure. He issued a warning that "ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences."

He specifically called for an end to "Oil smuggling, swap lines, cash transfers, exchange houses, ship registries, front companies," warning those involved, "You know who you are."

Trump likened the operation to "an ECONOMIC D-DAY" that requires "our Allies to stand with the United States of America to isolate, and defeat, the Iran threat."

This declaration follows the expiration on Monday of a 60-day period for negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, a period established under an interim peace deal signed in June, which concluded without a resolution. Trump indicated earlier this week that no further talks with Iran are planned, and the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz remains active.

"These maniacs are on the ropes, and these HISTORIC MEASURES will cripple them and their ability to project terror worldwide," Trump’s post continued. He concluded with a firm declaration: "IRAN WILL NEVER HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER."

No new talks between the U.S. and Iran are currently planned, according to statements made by Trump earlier in the week. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
