Trump Criticizes Obama's White House Renovation Comments Amid Campaign Trail Strain

President Donald Trump continued his criticism of former President Barack Obama, even as his voice showed signs of strain during a campaign rally in Mississippi. The president's remarks came amid a busy schedule of rallies aimed at supporting Republican candidates in the midterm elections.

Trump addressed the crowd, referencing Obama's recent comments about the White House renovations. "I should save my voice because Barack Hussein Obama, have you heard of him?" Trump said, before addressing Obama's assertion that Trump was overly focused on construction within the White House. Trump stated, "I didn't take any time. I literally do it when I walk home from the Oval."

Earlier, Obama, while campaigning for Democrats, had suggested Trump "should be on HGTV" due to his focus on the White House's appearance. Obama also made a remark comparing the renovated White House to "Saddam Hussein opened a Cheesecake Factory," a comment Trump criticized.

"He doesn't like successful companies," Trump stated, referring to Obama's mention of the Cheesecake Factory. Trump then offered a defense of his administration's renovation efforts, which have included significant changes to the East Wing, North Portico, and Oval Office. He described the work as necessary for maintaining the historic property, asserting, "Nobody loves it like I do. Nobody loves it, and now the White House is in beautiful shape."

The president's voice appeared raspy during the rally, which was notably shorter than his usual nearly two-hour events. He acknowledged his vocal fatigue, telling the audience, "God didn't make your vocal cords to do a rally every day, but when you love the people, it's fine — and we love you, we really do."

Trump is engaged in an extensive travel schedule, with plans for over 30 campaign stops before Election Day. His itinerary includes stops in Georgia, Michigan, Texas, Ohio, South Carolina, and Florida in the days leading up to the election. He expressed his commitment to supporting Republican candidates throughout this period.

During the rally, Trump also commented on Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith's campaign in Mississippi, a state he won by a significant margin in the previous election. He emphasized the importance of ensuring voter turnout, even in reliably Republican states.

Other topics touched upon by Trump during his remarks included his call for the resignation of Rep. Ilhan Omar and his views on a past cease-fire agreement with Iran, which he described as "sort of a waste of time."

As the rally concluded, Trump promised not to change the name of the Mississippi River, a statement that was met with a strong positive reaction from the crowd.
