Trump Claims Ukraine-Russia Energy Ceasefire, Kyiv Cautious

President Trump announced via social media on Sunday that an energy ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia has been achieved and is effective immediately. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky indicated that his country is prepared to back such a ceasefire, provided Russia also agrees, stating it could represent a significant stride toward ending the conflict.

However, official confirmation from Moscow has not been forthcoming. Zelensky also reported that Russia conducted strikes on a Ukrainian power plant in Kharkiv shortly after Trump's announcement.

Amidst these developments, residents in Kyiv are bracing for another winter characterized by electricity outages, which can disrupt access to heat, light, and water, according to BBC correspondent Dan Johnson reporting from the city.
