Former President Donald Trump claimed on Sunday via his Truth Social platform that a highway in Morocco has been named in his honor. The assertion was accompanied by a video featuring a narrator praising Moroccan King Mohammed VI and Trump's "visionary leadership" and "historic courage."

The video states that a nearly 655-mile expressway linking the city of Tiznit to Dakhla, in the Moroccan-occupied territory of Western Sahara, is now the "Donald J. Trump Highway." The narrator declared that this highway is the "most concrete and lasting expression" of the long-standing friendship between Morocco and the United States.

Trump expressed his desire to travel the entire length of the highway, writing, "Such a Great Honor! I look forward to traveling the entire length of this Great Highway someday, hopefully soon!"

However, several hours after Trump's post, officials in Morocco had not confirmed the renaming. Moroccan media outlets have reported on Trump's claim without citing additional sources. As of Sunday afternoon, there was no official confirmation from the country.

This claim follows Trump's reaffirmation of support for Morocco's claims to Western Sahara nearly a year prior. Trump has previously shown a tendency to associate his name and likeness with various projects and items during his presidency. While some U.S. roads have been renamed in his honor, it is unclear if such instances extend internationally.
