Former President Donald Trump announced Friday that he has secured a deal with Venezuela to add 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves to the U.S. supply. Trump, who made the announcement via the social media platform Truth Social, described the agreement as "THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY!"

According to Trump's post, the agreement was reached at his direction by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, working with Venezuela's Interim President Delcy Rodriguez and private business partners. Trump stated that the deal provides majority U.S. control over the reserves at no cost to American taxpayers.

Trump asserted that this transaction would more than double U.S. oil reserves, increase the nation's oil supply, and lead to substantially lower gas prices for Americans in the future. He also indicated that the deal would contribute to Venezuela's success and prosperity.
