Former President Donald Trump asserted on his Truth Social platform that his approval ratings are at their highest point ever, despite numerous polls indicating the opposite. Trump has historically expressed sensitivity regarding his approval ratings, often dismissing unfavorable results as "fake" and has even pursued legal action over certain polls.

Recent polling data suggests a different reality. The New York Times polling average shows Trump with a 38% approval rating, contrasted with 58% disapproval, a 20-percentage-point deficit. His approval on specific issues also appears significantly underwater. A Fox News poll indicated that only 31% of voters approve of his handling of the economy, while 68% disapprove.

CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten noted that Trump has reached an 80% disapproval rating regarding gas prices, a level he described as unprecedented for a president. During his first term, the economy was frequently cited as one of his strongest areas in public opinion.

The Economist's tracker shows Trump with negative approval ratings across all five categories it monitors: inflation/prices, jobs and the economy, foreign policy, immigration, and crime. This tracker also indicates that Trump's approval rating is underwater in all but four states.
