Former President Donald Trump declared on Wednesday night that the United States is respected worldwide under his past leadership, stating, "Now we’re the hottest country anywhere in the world. We’re respected by everybody. Nobody’s laughing at us anymore."

Speaking at a rally that marked the beginning of the nation's birthday celebrations, Trump asserted that America was "dead" and disrespected two years prior but has since become the most admired nation globally.

However, critics quickly challenged his assertion, citing video evidence and accounts of world leaders laughing at Trump during his presidency. Footage from a previous year reportedly showed European leaders finding humor in Trump's confusion between Albania and Armenia. California Governor Gavin Newsom also recalled instances where he witnessed foreign leaders laughing behind Trump's back.

The comments drew reactions on social media, with critics highlighting these past events as counterevidence to Trump's claim of universal respect.
