Trump Claims Denmark Granted US Permanent Control Over Greenland Security

Former President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Denmark has granted the United States permanent control over Greenland's security and development. Trump stated via a Truth Social post that he directed efforts to reach an agreement with Danish and Greenlandic representatives to ensure the U.S. has the "complete ability to do what is necessary in Greenland in order to secure and defend the security of Greenland and the United States of America." He characterized this accord as an "infinite life" agreement.

According to Trump's statement, the agreement will prevent any U.S. adversaries from establishing a military presence, base, or making sensitive investments in Greenland without explicit written approval from the United States. He indicated that the U.S. would "immediately begin the process of developing a large Military presence in the appropriate part of Greenland." Trump asserted that this development and construction would not incur any cost to the U.S. and would involve collaboration with the people of Greenland.

Trump described the agreement as beneficial for the United States, Denmark, Greenland, and their allies, expressing anticipation for a "magnificent future" for the strategically important territory. He concluded by calling the outcome a "dream come true for the United States of America, one that is very important, historic, and special."
