Trump Bans CNN, Politico, and MSNOW from White House Press Corps

President Donald Trump announced Friday that CNN, Politico, and MSNOW have been banned from White House press access, citing their "constant reporting fake news." Trump issued the warning on his Truth Social platform, stating, "Media Outlets shouldn't be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they're covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America. Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow."

Journalists from the affected organizations reported being blindsided by the announcement and claimed they had no prior warning. It remains unclear what the long-term implications of this ban will be for press access to the White House.

This action follows a pattern of contentious interactions between the President and various media outlets. In February of the previous year, Trump restricted access for reporters from The Associated Press after the outlet declined to adopt his preferred terminology for the Gulf of America. The AP subsequently filed a lawsuit, which is still pending.

Trump's administration has frequently engaged in public disputes with news organizations, including The Wall Street Journal, the BBC, and The New York Times. He has also had notable exchanges with CNN's Kaitlan Collins, whom he has previously criticized for her questioning during Oval Office briefings.

Right-wing influencer Nick Sortor supported the ban on social media, calling it "LONG overdue" and describing Collins as "EXTREMELY rude and REGULARLY interrupts President Trump in the Oval Office."

Trump's decision to ban these outlets is likely to face legal challenges from the media organizations involved. The President had attended the White House Correspondents' Dinner earlier in the year, where his speech included criticism of political opponents and remarks directed at the media.
