Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Darline Graham Nordone, the sister of the late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham, to fill his brother's seat in the interim, according to a report by Time. South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster is scheduled to announce his appointment for the temporary replacement on Monday afternoon.

Lindsey Graham died Saturday at the age of 71 due to an aortic dissection, a condition involving a tear in the heart's main artery. Preliminary findings from the Washington D.C. medical examiner's office indicate that arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease contributed to the tear. A final death certificate is pending the completion of toxicological and microscopic testing.

Darline Graham Nordone has previously supported her brother's political endeavors. In 2015, she introduced him at a campaign event in South Carolina, recounting their upbringing. She described how they grew up in a single room behind a bar owned by their parents, and presented him as "the next president of the United States."
