Former President Donald Trump arrived at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Sunday to attend the highly anticipated World Cup Final match between Spain and Argentina. He was accompanied by his wife, Melania Trump, and other close family members.
Trump was seen in a box with FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Also in attendance were Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, as Mexico and Canada co-hosted the tournament alongside the United States. Spain's Prime Minister was also expected to attend the game.
Before the match, Trump shared his thoughts on the game with Fox News' Jenny Taft, stating it was "hard to bet against Messi," referring to Argentina's captain Lionel Messi. He elaborated on Messi's skills, noting a perfectly executed pass and his ability to create space against defenders.
Trump also mentioned having a close friendship with Argentina's president, Javier Milei. Marine One, the presidential helicopter, was observed flying over the stadium shortly before kickoff. Trump is reportedly expected to present the World Cup Trophy.
Eric Trump, his wife Lara, and their children were also present. Security measures at the venue were stringent due to the attendance of multiple world leaders.
Historically, other U.S. presidents have attended World Cup finals. Former President Bill Clinton attended the 1999 Women's World Cup final, and Joe Biden, as Vice President, attended a Men's World Cup match in 2014.
