President Donald Trump attended the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) Dinner in Washington, D.C. on July 24, 2026. The event, originally planned for April, was postponed following an incident where a man attempted to breach security and discharged a shotgun.
During the dinner, held at the Waldorf Astoria, President Trump engaged with attendees, including shaking hands with Secret Service officers and White House staff. He also greeted journalists and presented the Katherine Graham Award for Courage and Accountability to staff members from The Wall Street Journal.
The security incident in April led to heightened security measures for the rescheduled event. Police officers were visible on the day of the dinner.
Journalists and White House officials were in attendance, including White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller with his wife Katie Miller. Senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich of Fox News also spoke at the event.
