Former President Donald Trump used his Truth Social platform early Sunday to launch an aggressive critique of former President Barack Obama and Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic nominee for a U.S. Senate seat in Michigan. Trump's remarks came hours after Obama campaigned for El-Sayed and other Democratic candidates in Michigan.

Trump's early morning posts, beginning at 12:42 a.m., characterized Obama as a "grossly incompetent President." He accused Obama of paying Iran billions and enabling its path to nuclear weapons, and claimed Obama's support for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris ultimately led to their electoral defeats.

Trump then turned his attention to El-Sayed, employing language that critics have described as Islamophobic. He referred to El-Sayed as a "Muslim Brotherhood Jihadist" who "hates Jews and Blacks and AMERICANS and TRUMP." Trump also called El-Sayed a "Fake Doctor" and asserted he operates "what is considered to be the WORST CLINIC IN AMERICA."

Trump also promoted Republican candidate Mike Rogers for the Michigan Senate seat, stating, "VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS! He will never let you down!" Trump asserted his own past electoral success in Michigan, claiming to have brought back the car industry and an Air Force base, and created more jobs than ever before.

Obama, during his campaign rally in Michigan, had criticized Trump's administration for "corruption," "cruelty and chaos," and "foolishness." He appeared to draw parallels between the attacks leveled against him by Trump during the birther conspiracy and the criticisms El-Sayed faced from his Republican opponent. Obama defended El-Sayed, a Muslim of Egyptian descent, stating, "He is as Michigan as it gets. Abdul was born here. He was raised here."
