Trump Announces Europe to Release 'Massive Amount' of Diesel Fuel

President Trump announced Friday that Europe will release a “massive amount” of diesel fuel, following pressure on allies to open their emergency reserves. Trump made the announcement on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating that the process would begin immediately.

The move comes after an emergency G7 meeting, chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron, to address the global energy situation. The Elysee Palace confirmed that Trump and Macron spoke Thursday night about the need for international cooperation to manage rising fuel prices and ensure the availability of refined petroleum products.

The national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has decreased to $4.40 as of Friday morning, a drop of more than nine cents from the previous week, according to AAA. Diesel prices have also seen a decline, now at $6.37 per gallon, down 15 cents from a record high set on September 22.

High living costs, including fuel prices, have been identified by voters as a primary concern ahead of the upcoming November 3 election. In addition to the European fuel release, reports indicate that Trump may issue an executive order next week aimed at lowering diesel prices. The specifics of this potential order, whether it involves an export ban or other measures, remain unclear.
