Trump Announces $90 Medicare Premium Checks for 20 Million Seniors

President Donald Trump announced Friday that over 20 million American seniors will receive $90 checks to help cover Medicare premiums. The payments are being distributed this month to eligible Medicare Part B enrollees via direct deposit or check, funded by the Medicare Improvement Fund established in 2008.

Trump characterized the Medicare Improvement Fund as a "pointless 'Slush Fund'" that had been misused by Democrats to cover "Waste, Fraud, and Abuse." He stated his administration is now utilizing the fund, alongside "Most Favored Nations Deals," to "substantially LOWER costs for our Seniors."

Individuals whose premiums are already covered by Medicaid or who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount are not eligible for this payment. Trump drew a distinction between this initiative and actions he attributed to the Biden administration, asserting he is protecting Medicare and Social Security, which he claimed were "on the verge of RUIN by Joe Biden."

This announcement follows a recent initiative where Trump's administration initiated $500 checks for approximately 950,000 Obamacare enrollees. This prior distribution was attributed to alleged overcharging of user fees to health insurance companies by the Biden administration, which then reportedly passed higher rates onto consumers.

Trump also referenced a pledge for a $5,000 "Trump Dividend" to be distributed to every U.S. citizen if Republicans win the upcoming Midterm Elections.
