Trump and First Lady Host Halloween Event Amidst Campaign Rallies
President and Melania Trump distribute candy to children on the White House South Lawn as the President juggles campaign events ahead of the midterms.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted a Halloween event on the White House South Lawn on Thursday evening, distributing candy to children from military, law enforcement, and foster families. The event featured a "harvest moon" theme, with decorations and music from the U.S. Air Force Strolling Strings performing pieces inspired by "Harry Potter," "Game of Thrones," and "Jaws."
The First Lady wore a brown trench coat, while the President was in a dark blue suit. Guests included White House officials such as Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and Trump adviser Stephen Miller, accompanied by their families.
Air Force One made a low pass over the residence during the event, drawing cheers from the attendees. The President appeared in good spirits, taking a brief respite from a demanding campaign schedule.
The Halloween festivities occurred days before the midterm elections, with Trump actively campaigning for Republican candidates. Earlier on Thursday, he held a rally in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and had additional tele-rallies scheduled. He was also slated to travel to Daytona Beach, Florida, for another rally on Friday.
A planned rally in Kansas for Saturday, the actual Halloween day, was canceled. Trump is reportedly expected to return to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida by Friday or Saturday, where Mar-a-Lago's annual Halloween bash is also scheduled.
Despite Trump's active campaigning, polls and predictions indicate Democrats are strongly favored to win control of both the House and the Senate in the upcoming elections.
