Trump Amplifies Whistleblower Claim Against NY Attorney General
Former President Donald Trump shared a New York Post report detailing allegations from a former prosecutor claiming Attorney General Letitia James pressured her team to pursue a case against him without sufficient evidence.
Former President Donald Trump amplified a New York Post report on his Truth Social platform that features allegations from a whistleblower within the New York Attorney General's office. The report claims Attorney General Letitia James pushed her team of prosecutors to investigate Trump, despite a lack of evidence.
According to the report, Daniel Wiesenfeld, a prosecutor in the Investor Protection Bureau, stated that a superior instructed him to continue pursuing the case against Trump, seeking to uncover incriminating information in his finances and associations. Wiesenfeld reportedly described the team as "exasperated" and indicated the directive originated from leadership.
"Tish was the boss and what Tish wanted, Tish got," Wiesenfeld was quoted as saying. "So we had to keep it going."
Trump shared a link to the New York Post story with his followers on Truth Social, using the headline: "Ex-NY prosecutor claims AG Letitia James pushed Trump probe despite investigators finding nothing: ‘What Tish wanted, Tish got.’"
Wiesenfeld was reportedly placed on leave after conflicts with his supervisor and for making internal office pressures public. An earlier report from the Albany Times-Union cited deleted emails from Wiesenfeld, suggesting he was ordered to find dirt on groups "affiliated with Donald Trump" and to "find and pursue crimes" by Trump allies.
In August 2025, a New York appeals court overturned a $454 million civil fraud judgment against Trump, deeming the penalty excessive. The allegations from the whistleblower, as reported by the New York Post, cast a new light on the investigation that led to that judgment.
