The Trump administration is intensifying its efforts to secure the confirmation of Todd Blanche as attorney general, facing opposition from key Republican senators. This renewed pressure comes after former President Donald Trump suggested he might withdraw Blanche's nomination if the holdouts did not comply.

In a social media post on Thursday, Trump stated his willingness to temporarily withdraw Blanche's name if the Senate did not confirm him, indicating a possible re-nomination after senators John Cornyn and Thom Tillis were out of office. Trump made these remarks in reference to the two Republican senators who have expressed reservations about Blanche's confirmation.

During a Cabinet meeting at Camp David on Friday, Trump commented on Senator Cornyn's threat to withdraw his support for Blanche, stating, "I don’t really blame him, to be honest with you." Trump acknowledged that he had endorsed Cornyn's opponent in a past election, adding, "The man that lost, the man that I didn’t endorse, has become very angry, and that’s ok."
