Trump Administration Launches Women's Health Task Force
First Lady Melania Trump announces initiative to improve outcomes and establish new standards for women's health.
President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have established a new task force aimed at overhauling the federal government's approach to women's health. The executive order, signed by the President and First Lady on Monday at the White House, establishes a National Institutes of Health division specifically focused on women's health.
During a Rose Garden ceremony, Melania Trump stated that the task force is designed to "improve outcomes in all phases of life" and will establish "a new standard for women's health in America." President Trump praised his wife's leadership, saying she will "help improve the health of our nation’s women and girls."
The task force will be co-led by White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. Wiles recently announced her recovery from breast cancer.
The initiative will direct research funding towards diseases that disproportionately affect women, utilize artificial intelligence to enhance medical research, and accelerate the delivery of therapies from laboratory to patients. It also aims to ensure women can afford medical treatments and expand health education for women.
The task force is scheduled to hold its first meeting Monday afternoon in the Roosevelt Room at the White House.
