Andrew Giuliani, identified as Donald Trump's World Cup representative, has stated that the United States is supporting England in the ongoing World Cup tournament. Giuliani suggested that if the U.S. cannot win its own national celebration, English victory would provide a compelling narrative.
"You know, if the United States can't win on our 250th birthday, then a great story line would be the English coming to America and winning during our anniversary celebrations," Giuliani told the Daily Mail. He added that England's potential victory after a "60 years of hurt" would be a "beautiful victory for them."
Giuliani expressed confidence in England's chances, calling them "one of the top teams left now" and highlighting Harry Kane as a key player. He also mentioned Jude Bellingham as a "fine athlete" and described the England team as "exceedingly well-balanced."
According to Giuliani, former President Donald Trump is closely following Kane's progress in the tournament. Trump himself recently posted on social media about Kane, calling him a "great player" and a "great guy."
Giuliani recalled a golf outing with Trump and Wayne Rooney a few years prior, indicating that the former president has a strong understanding of football, possibly influenced by his son Barron. "A few years ago I was among a group of people playing golf with President Trump and Wayne Rooney was with us, and the president knows his football pretty well, I think that's through his relationship with (his son) Barron," Giuliani said.
England captain Harry Kane confirmed that he played golf with Trump in late 2024 in Florida. Kane described the experience as "pretty surreal" and noted Trump's golfing skill at age 78. "I played all right to be honest, but 18 months ago he invited me to play when I was down in Palm Beach," Kane stated. "So, when the president invites you somewhere, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and obviously play golf with him."
